Almost the weekend

It's almost a week since we first visited the cat shelter and what a week it's been.

The kitten the boyfriend saw on Wednesday wont be ready for 6 to 8 weeks but a kitten will always find a home. People are enquiring about him and his brothers and sisters already.
I think we'd be better with an older kitty. One that needs another chance in life and one that doesn't need as much from us. Neither of us have experience in looking after a new kitten.

I emailed someone yesterday about a grey tabby that they can no longer care for but no reply as yet. I've also noticed that on the cat shelter website there have been some new cats added, ready for adoption. Perhaps we will go back on Sunday and pay them a visit.

We will just have to keep looking.
I know our kitty must be out there somewhere. In the meantime the nice warm rug in front of the fire, perfect for a sleepy kitty, is still going to waste.

  1. Aw, the right Cat will come along at the right time. Chumley was between 2 and 3 when I adopted him, Annie a bit less than a year old, and both boys 6 months. If or when I adopt again, at my age, it would be an older kitty (or kitties, maybe a bonded pair) that would have less change of finding a home. Just be aware that the older the cat, the more likely there will be health issues. As long as you have the financial means to handle vet bills, you are fine. And of course, even a young cat can have health problems!

  2. Hang in there and don't worry, the right kitty will find you...You can tell an older kitties personality right away and they usually are very appreciative and loving when adopted, it's like they realize how lucky they are to find a good home!!...BTW, "older" doesn't mean old; even 3-5 is considered old because most people want kittens or 1-2 year olds who still look like kittens...Good luck.

  3. You will know the kittie the moment your eyes meet! We wish you all the best in choosing which kittie's life you will change FURRever! It's sad that older animals are always so hard to get adopted. You are wonderful for considering an older kittie. Keep us posted and can't wait to see your new family member on that rug!

  4. We are glad you are gonna look for an "older" cat. Meowm got me, Junior, when I was 4. And then she found Orion when he was about 3. We bet you find the purrfect cat soon!

  5. Hi, we saw you over at Dmitri & Leopold's comments and wanted to stop by. We are 4 cats here and I am the 8th cat in this family. 4 have gone to The Bridge. My Mom grew up with cats and she'd be happy to answer questions about living with cats.

  6. An older cat sounds just purrfect. Litter box trained and you'll have a really great idea about its personality when you go to meet it, see if it fits yours and your lifestyle. But like many of us you may be looking then all of a sudden a cat will be dropped into your lap, thats what happened to me.
